'12 Ram question for the techs - 03/28/13 01:13 AM

I have a friend who asked me to ask you ... on a '12 Ram hemi ...

Has anyone run across a problem, persistent oil leakage, in the area of the oil filter, but only AFTER engine shutdown?
No apparent leak when running?
I can get more info probably, but it's not near me ...
Thanks

My thoughts are it HAS to be running down from elsewhere, pooling somewhere and gravity at work after shutdown ...never seen the truck tho ...

For some odd reason there was a change-up in oil filter numbers after '07. Perhaps at one of the oil changes someone put the pre-'07 oil filter on there and it is causing the leak.

Not sure what differences are, could be the rubber seal and that would cause a leak.

the oil filters in question will not interchange, they simply do not screw on if you have the wrong one.
if the leak is at the filter, try a new one. ive seen plenty of filters that leaked at the seam. also, overtightening the filter or debris on the seal will make them leak.
