testing Bendix Boosters - 03/26/13 01:38 PM

Hey Gang..
I have a sneaky suspicion that the booster on Daytona's got a leak. I just installed the Cheetah valve body in my Daytona and tested it while on jack stands. Going through the gears like usual, I apply the brakes. The booster (I'm assuming it is that), made a quick and gone whistle. It didn't remain with the brakes applied. Maybe it is a vacuum leak? I guess I could run the engine with the hose disconnected and the nipple plugged and see if it does it. If it doesn't, is there a way to isolate the booster to determine if it is bad? Also, I have a couple of spare Bendix booster in the attic. Can I "bench" test them too utilizing the vacuum source of the engine while it is running? Maybe get a long hose and connect it and fire up the motor and see if I "hear" anything?

Also, if it is bad, is there a company out there that has a good rebuilding service with a decent turnaround time?

Thanks..
T

Check the gromet hose and check valve first!
