Vintage hot rod trick?

Ive seen this done in many vintage drag and street cars. I want to mount my tach on the rear view mirror so looking at the christmas tree I can see it.I reallly would like to know how to do this properly. Yes I know anything mounted on a rear view mirror is illegal, but lets face it hot rodders and the law dont go hand in hand!

I don't think I've ever seen a tach hung on the mirror. That is up too high to see the tree and the tach. Plus it puts the tach out of view when you are in the right lane. You really need the tach in front of you and possibly a little to the right. Once you stage you don't need to watch the tach anyway until after you launch.

I will find the picture when I get home today and post it. Just want something vintage and unique.

I made a little steel bracket and mounted one on the D/S sun visor mount. I would think you could do something similar.
