Looks like a Lynch Road car. What is stamped on the underside of the oil pan rail extension?

Since it's from Lynch Road, we know it's a B body.

Trying to bracket the VIN...

157495 is a Coronet based car
158204 this block
158333 is a Coronet based car

168001 is a Belvedere based car
168204 this block
168440 is a Coronet based car

0A158146 - is a Coronet
0A168175 - is a Coronet

That's some "RARE" stuff right there!! Less than 60 HEMI Coronets in 1970.

WM21R0A158042 is one of the CANADA spec. '70 HEMI Super Bees

Re: Can somene tell me what plant this hemi block is from? - 01/31/13 07:55 AM

The OP's question was what plant the Hemi block came from.

All Hemi blocks came from the Trenton (Michigan) Engine Plant.

All Hemi engines were assembled and tested in Marysville, Michigan. I believe the official title was the Chrysler Industial and Marine Plant.

Doug and Dan,
Thank you for the possible placement of this block. It would be interesting if we could find the original car for this.

Scott, that would be something!
Would you happened to know that car? Is it missing the original block?
I have access to this hemi block. The goal is to reunite.

Re: Can somene tell me what plant this hemi block is from? - 02/01/13 01:17 AM

Gentelmen,

What information can I get from this block, (besides the oil pan rail info), that could help our knowledge and possible placement.

The current owner wanted me to try and learn about this block, to see if an existing car is missing it, and to reunite the two. Engine is currently in VA.

I appreciate all your detective work.

Re: Can somene tell me what plant this hemi block is from? - 02/01/13 01:43 AM

Help me out Scott....

I'm looking at a sorted list of SB VINs. Superbird VINs sorted by sequence

37 RM23 U 0A 155797 5-Nov 13-Nov
32 RM23 V 0A 155798 5-Nov 11-Nov
182 RM23 V 0A 155799 11-Nov 12-Nov
21 RM23 V 0A 155800 4-Nov 14-Nov
18 RM23 V 0A 155801 4-Nov 12-Nov
25 RM23 V 0A 155802 5-Nov 12-Nov
86 RM23 V 0A 155803 7-Nov 14-Nov

120 RM23 R 0A 158577 10-Nov 10-Nov
296 RM23 R 0A 158578 13-Nov 14-Nov
33 RM23 R 0A 158579 5-Nov 10-Nov
267 RM23 R 0A 158580 13-Nov 17-Nov

714 RM23 V 0A 167967 21-Nov 21-Nov
693 RM23 V 0A 167968 21-Nov 21-Nov
1055 RM23 U 0A 167969 1-Dec 2-Dec
705 RM23 V 0A 167970 21-Nov 26-Nov Span 13 90 848

? RM23 V 0A 167982 Joe Ward List

669 RM23 V 0A 168702 20-Nov 21-Nov
964 RM23 U 0A 168703 28-Nov 1-Dec
1018 RM23 U 0A 168704 1-Dec 1-Dec

that specific VIN either in 158204 or 168204 form, doesn't appear on the list.

Are there other Superbirds that have popped up that are not on the original list?

It seems odd that a RM VIN would pop up in the middle of some W* cars.

Any insight you can offer?

If the VIN is RM23ROA166204, I'm pretty sure it matches a known Superbird.

Story could get interesting if that one is already "numbers matching"....

Must be a well known numbers matching car as NO-ONE will care to elaborate....Funny how some cars have posts about them and ends up in a dog pile about fake numbers matching, fake tag, fake broadcast sheet. This collector however must be special...

For all of the Negative Nancies chiming in, the car matching the VIN# I posted about IS NOT being represented as a numbers matching car.

I'm sorry. Maybe I'm not seeing it but does the fifth character really look like it could be a 6 instead of an 8?

0A158204 is what I see, but if it's 0A166204 as depicted as one of the possibilities in the animation, it's the block from a known Superbird

A direct, straight on photo would help, photos taken at an angle are not always easy to judge.

"The car matching the VIN# I posted about IS NOT being represented as a numbers matching car."

Fixed!

That's all you had to say since you apparently knew of the car...

Yes I do and glad you asked. It's spelled hop E less
Hopless? Is that a paralysed kangaroo?
As far as the thread I was just curious about the car whether it was so-called numbers matching...carry on.
