Torque converter recommendation

Torque converter recommendation - 01/21/13 04:33 AM

I'm thinking of using this converter for a ~425hp 408/727 combo mainly because I like the price and I've used Hughes before. Right now the car has 2.94 gears but will be switching to 3.23/3.55 later on. Car is an '88 Gran Fury. Will this be strong enough or do I need the one with the "special HD sprag" that Hughes offers?

Thanks

Wha compression, cam, intake, and carb are you using??

2500 stall seems kinda tight for a 425 horse 408ci motor.

10:1, 276/284 .513/.533 Voodoo Cam and 770 Street Avenger.

I'm curious about the "sprag" they mention in their HD converters. I'm not sure if I need to special "HD sprag" or not.

I was looking at a Hughes convertor for my 408 also. This one is supposed to stall at 3000.

I am just going to call them and see what they recommend.
