There were dealer serviceman special technical books on that. I don't know how much more info they offer than the manual.

I have a 1971 Rear Axle Part II Master Technicians pamphlet/book. It really isn't much more than the Factory Service Manual.

Some of those books had slideshows that went with them. Barry Washington has some of that stuff on his http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/ website.

Here some video of those slideshows but no Diff stuff: http://www.youtube.com/user/1970Hamtramck

This is what I used, it was suggested by IIRC, Quicksilver. It is from a 4X4 site, but Dana 60 just the same, & it's raiser to understand than a FSM.

The Bill Vista article is one of the best for a dana, I used it to build my Jana 76. Tim

This is the best manual I found on the subject:

http://www.ringpinion.com/Content/HowTo/...nstructions.pdf

No manual properly addresses ring gear installation, however.

Please don't clamp the carrier in the jaws of a vise to torque ring gear bolts. Simply hold the carrier in a press.

Why not??? What if you put a block of wood on each side??? I don't have a press, but need to torque these bolts. All I have is a vise.

Sure. If you have a vise that will open wide enough for a differential, but you don't have a press, you can make curved wooden shoes to hold the carrier without marring it.
