9.5" Street Converter Pricing - 01/03/13 04:16 PM
I am curious how much you are paying for a GOOD 9.5" street converter in the 3500-3800rpm range (no power adders).
I am planning on contacting Dynamic, PTC, and Ultimate for their suggestions, but before I do, I am curious about their price ranges.
Thanks

I believe I paid 475 for a PTC 9.5. It performed very well and for the money I dont think it can be be beat.

Von,
Thanks for the PCT price! That is about what I paid for my current TA 10" unit about 8 years ago. The same TA unit is now about $550, but I would like to try a 9.5 this time around.
EDIT: I just received an email from John Cope and the PCT 9.5" unit is $479.
I got an email from Ultimate and his 9.5" price would be $895. This is an all billet unit and he did state that it would be overkill for my application, but it would be a very good and fast unit. That is out of my budget.
Anyone have a recent price on the Dynamic 9.5? I have seen $595-$725.
Thanks again.

I paid $575 for the 3 Dynamic converters I have bought. One is in my 63 and one is in my sons Dart. The other is in my buddies 65 Coronet and all have worked great for us. Ron

Between me, my brother and my dad we own at least 3 9.5" converters from PTC. $475, good value!
I also have an 8" PTC converter and have had good results.

I bought a 9-1/2" Dynamic custom converter last spring. I paid $595, but at the time Shaun at Dynamic told me that I had just got in before a price increase. I think they're in the $675 range now. Only one way to find out.

I will say this............buy a good converter and dont skimp on it to save a few bucks. I dont mean buy a $900 dollar 9.5 conveter but dont buy one for $300 that you never heard off. I know the Dynamic and Turbo Action ones I have used work great as does the PTC from what I hear as I have not used theirs. A good converter goes a long way in the combo as its not worth buying one that could kill a good combo to save a few bucks. Its one place even my cheap butt wont skimp. Alot of guys like ATI and Ultimate converters on here also. But weigh your options and call the one you pick as they will need all the cars info anyway. Good luck , Ron

Thanks for all of the replies. I am waiting on a reply from Sean at Dynamic on their current 9.5 pricing.
I am waiting on the bill from my tranny builder, then I will be ready to buy the converter. My top choice as of now is Dynamic and second is the PTC unit.
Eight years ago I pulled my stock 11" unit and replaced it with the TA 10" Tight 3500 unit and I found out what stepping up to a good converter felt like.
I thank you again for the replies.

I'm in the same boat as I want to upgrade my converter.
Even the reputable companies like PTC, Dynamic, Edge, ATI etc. get mixed reviews on moparts - some love them, others hate them. The only company so far without bad reviews seems to be Ultimate but $900 for a converter that goes into a street car is quite expensive in my eyes.

600 plus shipping from Lupo a few years back. Did have to send it back for a front hub repair two summers ago. It is fast, but a little slippery on the street with 411's. This car did get into the tens this fall, but runs low 11's in warmer weather with no problems. He and Sean are great.
