Depending on lightweight stuff he probably weighs around 3400lbs.If he has a strong motor and can hook you will have your hands full and likely see tail lights IMO.

The Nova weighs more and certainly has more torque. The difference in a 1/4 mile race bwteen the two cars may be the ability to hook up where you might have the advantage...

If your numbers are right, and both of you are on narrow tires I think you've got it made in the 1/8 th mile.
Not enough details on the nova to call the quarter mile though.

You should be able to bury him unless that 454 is built nicely. The 340 64-66 Cuda combo was one of the better sleepers back in the day.

I had a 340 Swinger back in the early '80's that showed it's tail lights to a lot of pig block cars.

The guy with the better power to weight ratio will be faster. If the P/W ratios are close, traction and driver skill will be the difference. That Nova is probably very light. A bone stock 375/396 with headers and slicks will run 12.20s.
You have not given us anything on his set-up, and with limited info on your stuff, I don't have a lot of confidence in your 425 hp.

The 454 is stock, i just got this engine and the builder says its 425hp on paper, never been dyno'd. The Nova is my buddys car and it does run real well. My engine guy says the 340 should blow him away, but who knows until we get them out in the spring.

A stock 454 you shouldn't have a problem.
My dads talked about my uncle and him racing way back. My dad was in a 70 Mach 1 with a 428 or 429(?) and my uncle in a 340 dart. Neither walked. Apparently pretty even race. Don't believe motors were much over stock

If the 454 has oval port heads, you have a chance. If it has rectangular ports, you're done.

Pretty close, it would be nice to know what stall you run as well size tires. You may have decent hp, but torque is the name of the ball game here. Also will this be a spirited street run or track run?
