65 a990 door lock ferrules

I just got some new super stock door panels and I need to install the door lock ferrules. The old ones look like they have a plastic coating on them , and they are blue. I tried rattle-can painting the old ones , but they still look like cr@p.
I dont know how they should be restored. Any good ideas ??? Im thinking of spraying them with a catalyzed paint.
