Can you repair a kinked hood? If so, how?

I'm looking at buying an old oddball and someone has tried closing the hood with jammed/stiff hinges. The hood is now kinked just ahead of the hinge mounts. Has anyone ever had any luck repairing these? I've never tried; just replaced the hood whenever I came across this problem. But in this case, tracking down a hood for this car will be difficult and will be expensive to ship.

Obviously you're in for some work but I guess you know that...It can be done...Basically your either removing all or sectioning out some of the underbracing and dealing with the bent upper sheetmetal...Then replacing/straightening then reinstalling the underbracing...
The trick here is to work smart...You'd be looking to cut the underbracing out to gain access to the hood sheetmetal but cut it in a way to make it easy to put back weld/grind to make the repair invisible....The shape of the underbracing and how bad the hood is creased will dictate the range of the repair...
You need to determine wether you have the skills to tackle it or give the work to someone else...I've sectioned anything from small pieces of underbracing to complete projects making a good hood out of two ugly parts and it's very time consuming to do it right..

Unless it's an expensive part, you are often better off finding another.
Oh, and fix the hinges BEFORE you bolt it back on...
