70 340 engine ground strap - 11/14/08 04:35 AM

What is the difference between a 1969 340 engine ground strap and 1970 340 engine ground strap? I see several places selling the 1969 part, but cannot find a 1970 340 ground strap.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

I can not comment on the 1969 version, but for 1970 the negative battery cable terminal had two leads.

One lead (the larger wire) went to the driver's side cylinder head.

The second lead (smaller wire) went to body ground.

69 used a ground strap from the back of the head to the fire wall.

by attaching to the radiator support for the body ground

the only STOCK ground strap ive ever seen on a 70 340 is the battery cable. big cable bolts to the front of drivers side head and goes to - battery post. At the battery post, a smaller cable comes out and goes to the radiator support.

Ive never seen a STOCK ground strap to the firewall. I put one in on mine but I know it is NOT original
