I don't think they are shipping yet, but I'm anxious to see them too.

I know they have just started shipping the 17x8 magnums, but the 17x9s are still back ordered. Maybe it's the other way around. Regardless, they are just now trickling out.

I think they are really missing the boat here. They'd sell a bunch of SBP ones.

man those things have to be sooooo heavy. I think you could find a better looking lighter wheel.

Re: 17" Year One rallye wheels - 10/11/12 01:15 PM

Their site lists availability as of December 1.

I find this a little strange though. A set of four 17 by 9 is priced at $699.99. Their regular price for one 17 by 9 is $190.99 but on discount now at $125.99. So for a set of four bought as singles is $503.96.

This sounds a little too good. Who discounts a new product weeks before it is actually released? Is there something Year One knows that a buyer should as well?

New Low Price

I know, this is coming across as being cynical but honestly, who wouldn't think something is up. I'd love to see pictures of these wheels on a 71/72 Plymouth B-body.

Mike.

man almost $300 a wheel after center caps and lug nuts, then add tires. just don't seem worth it to me.. not that nice looking of a wheel to justify that much money

I'll have to see them in person, the earlier versions were pretty damn ugly, these look better in pictures but I wouldn't be in any hurry to buy them theres better looking wheels out there...

Hated those wheels when they came from the factory and the bigger ones are just more ugly wheel to look at with silly tires with no sidewall mounted on them.

For those who gotta have these type of wheels get out your wallet as there are other options $$$$

I agree with most eveyone else. I do not like the large dia Rallye's but the large dia Magnum 500 type wheels do not look that bad, but still not for me.

Re: 17" Year One rallye wheels - 10/11/12 07:19 PM

at $100 a wheel, that would be a great price. They do look a lot better then those ones above. Would a 9" rim be too wide for the front though?

"Heavy" is relative, and I don't think anyone buying these will have weight as a primary concern. If the weight of the cast Magnums is any indication (26-28 lbs), fully dressed and tires mounted these won't be any heavier than 15" steel rallyes. I weighed a dressed 15x8 with a 275-15-60 mounted and it was 58 lbs.

I think they look pretty good myself. Way better than the overpriced billet versions currently on the market.

I like them

And the new cast Magnum 500s too. I'd love to see either one on a 71-74 B body... but I keep reading that tire size is tricky.

Don't want to be stuck running O-rings... I have some huge wheel wells to fill.

I pulled the trigger last night as they were only $125 apiece - $503 but they raped me on shipping to montana (another $106) so it comes out to about $150 a rim. Not bad considering everything else available out there. And I looked on the site today - the special must be over? they are back up to $220 a rim, I did skip the centers for now (over $300 ouch) I'll have to test fit them first on my car and see if i actually like them, I may end up powdercoating them satin black but I'll take some test fitting pics for you guys and you can be the judge if you like them or not. I wanted the magnum 500's until I saw them on a charger in the new mopar action? magazine, I'm hoping these rims work out...

I bought the 17x9" ones FYI

These are 17x9 on my bee, all around, with 255 50's on the rear and 245 45's on the front with '0' off set or 5 inch backside spacing. These wheels weigh 21 lbs each.Had these since 08.

Had a set of those on my '69 Charger for a while. I don't recall the exact weight, but with tires, they were well over 50 lbs. Not light for sure, but not crazy heavy either.

One thing I didn't like about them was the shallow face/dish. Even though they had the proper offset, they look like a late model positive offset wheel... a bit out of place on a '69 IMHO. The YO Rallyes and Magnums don't appear to have this issue.

With the aftermarket brakes on your Bee, I think they look really good. The open spoke design works.

235/55R17 or 255/50R17 fit great...they're 27" tall (same height as a 255/60R15). 235/55 is base size tires on a mustang, so there's a ton of options
Posted By: pro451bee

Re: 17" Year One rallye wheels - 10/13/12 06:41 AM

Definitely not as light as weld wheels, but you are dealing with 30+ lbs rear tires and 26 or so for front ,so 50 + lbs sounds about right.295 50 15's on 15x10 weld rod lights was 45 lbs.5 or 6 lbs wont make that much difference ,especially if you run light weight brakes or some other weight saver. Not many cheap light weight 17" and especially 18" wheels to fit old cars out there.

I'm hoping with the 9' wide 0 offset rims will fit my front fenders well, may have to trim the inner fender as i will be running drop spindles...I like the look of the 275/40

Here is that size combination on my former 71 GTX. Wish I still had these wheels. Anyway, squint and you can imaging it with Rallyes.

edit: I'm thinking the fronts were actually 50's

FWIW these 17" Telstars were about 18 lbs each, if memory serves. The 15's on my Road Runner are 16 lbs.

what is the offset on those? is there room to go an inch or 2 wider on the fronts?
Ill be putting the rallye's in a 71 roadrunner, I'm hoping the 17x9 0 offset fits...

The Telstars actually had about 0.5" of negative offset (4" back space). Nine inch wheels with zero offset will fit, although you'll be getting close to the ball joint. Just don't get crazy with the tire size. Nine inches is bit wide for 235s though.

When I ran the "Hot Wheels" like the Bee above on my '69 Charger, I had 17x8's and 17x9's, zero offset and 255-50, 275-50 tires. No clearance issues. In fact, they actually screwed up the mounting and shipped a 255 mounted on a 9" wheel. Just for giggles I test fitted it and found no clearance problem. That car tracked like crap with the 255s on front though. I'd never go that wide again.

Hypothetically, if I had about $1400 burning a hole in my pocket and decided to spend it on a set of 17" wheels and tires for my '72 Road Runner, I'd either run eights all around, or stagger with nines in back. Tires would be 235 and 255 combo.

Re: 17" Year One rallye wheels - 10/14/12 03:45 AM

My Bee tracks very well with the 9's in front and 245 45 tire ,every thing fits.I do have almost 4 deg of castor tho.275 40 all around would be interesting to try.Dan at Hotchkis might chime in on that one.

Thanks for the input! I'll be running 9's all around - I might run a hubcentric spacer if I find them a little to close to the balljoint.
I'm probably gonna run the 245/45 combo

I also wonder about the 275/40 all around - I try to find the happy medium to run all 4's so I can rotate my tires. I believe Dan runs 18" tires but would be curious as to what he has to say...

I like the look of those. They look super nice! One thing I really love about the originals is the way the holes in the rim center (half oval) reflect in the trim ring making a full oval. You lose that with those aluminum pieces but they really capture the style pretty well. I'm tempted just because of the modern rubber and how awesome the car handles, but for now I'm going with 15x8 modified Rallye rims out back and 15x7 front and good old raised white letter BFG's.
