Horns either blow continuously or not at all-- HELP !!! - 09/22/12 02:59 PM

My '67 GTX has a spring which goes over the nut which holds the steering wheel onto the column,
then You install the center cap by depressing the spring and turning the center cap clockwise to lock..Then You can press on the outer trim ring to
make the horns blow, right?? because the spring is supposed to touch the internal ring which grounds
the circuit, right???Well, depending on how I position the spring before installing the center
cap, I can get the horns to blow constantly, or not at all !!! I have asked several Mopar Friends,
and pored thru several manuals, but can't find one damn sentence or picture which provides any guidance.. Can someone help???

don't know much about that cap..but it seems like the cap should have a gap/space inside for the contacts to touch when pressed on..its possible the contacts are touching..making the horns go off..and also not working at times...is the cap new?..can you open it up and see?

Nothing wrong with the center cap,and there were no other parts under that cap except the spring..
I know,'cuz I'm the one who disassembled everything and put stuff into bags with notes..
Maybe someone with a '67 Plymouth could remove thier center cap and send a pic of what's there??
