Thermoquad spacer material? - 09/04/12 12:23 AM

I found a box of old spacers that came off of my dads 340 with a thermoquad and I am looking to sell them but I really dont know what they are made of. They look like they are made up of layers of a hard canvas like material. Can anyone tell me what these are made of?

thanks

There were several types of composite materials used, post pics for a positive ID.

Those look like the common every day parts store replacment for any 72-later TQ, maybe $5.00 or so?

The only ones that are really worth anything substantial are the 71 only style with the asbestos/aluminum sandwhich material, they are hard to find but can usually be picked up NOS for around $25.00-$50.00 but are getting harder to find and values are rising in general.

Don't mess w/ asbestos - that's some nasty stuff you want nothing to do with...

I made mine for my 1971 Charger from a phenolic type material called Garolite XX that you can buy from McMaster Carr. It's inexpensive, easy to machine, stays flat, and hold up great to the heat of the engine. It also works as a thermal break between the engine and carb. You can buy stardard size phenolic spacers directly from Summit.
