Help decode trans #'s on 833 - 08/28/12 01:17 AM

I found this transmission this weekend. I understand the VIN portion but what do the other stampings mean?

If anyone has this car or knows of it, let me know.

Transmission is from a Charger - is it 18 or 23-spline?

This is an 18 Spline out of a 70 Charger R/T. Not sure what happened to the car but the same guy might have the original 440 block out of it also that matches the trans.

Thanks for the reply guys.

One more question. This transmission has dual shifter mounting locations on it (70 E-body, 71-up B-body) and I thought a 70 correct trans would only have one. Does this seem right? It has an aftermarket steel bellhousing and B&M shifter right now. It has also been painted red so anything is possible.

Staring with the 70 model year the tailshaft had both mounting pads, a 71-74 B body with a buddy seat would use the forward mount .

OK, good to know. I guess it makes sense since the E-bodies used them in 70.
