How can you tell if a 65 Baracuda is a formula S by the vin or fender tag

Fender tag only, but I don't know the code. Only the Formula S got the factory tach in 1965.

On a manual steering car I think they had a 16:1 manual steering box. Easy check is it'd be a little over 3 turns lock to lock whereas the std 24:1 is a little over 5 turns.

Want to know if it's a Formula S? On the fender tag of a 65 Barracuda, look for the 'ABC'.... under the AB will be a '31' for the 273 4bbl 235hp engine. Under the C will be a '2' for the formula "S" package. The car should also have a tach in the dash....

Fast ratio manual was an option, not standard.

My '65 Valiant (bought new by me) had factory tach, F.R.M.S., manual discs, blue streaks, etc.

Rear valance should have a rectangular cut-out for the resonator .
