Coil ?'s - 11/09/08 10:09 PM

How does one know what voltage is good for whatever type of ingition system they may have? I currently have the MP electronic conversion, with the chrome box. I am running the Accel Super Coil (the large one), installed on the firewall. I am considering purchasing a canister type coil to mount to the intake in the stock location, to clean up the engine bay a bit. I checked Summit's website, and there are numerous canister type coils with several voltage ratings to choose from. What would be a good choice for my application? this is for a 70 Duster with a 340, soon to have Edelbrock heads.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks fourgearsavoy. I am wondering about the voltage ratings for this type of coil. Some have 40,000 volts, some have 45,000, and some have 50,000 or more. Is the higher the voltage rating the better?

MSD has a great and informative website, one of the best technical sites I have ever seen.
I use an MSD 6AL series unit and a Blaster SS coil and I couldn't be happier.
Check out the MSD site they might just have the perfect coil for your application.
