318 inake gasket question

I just bought an 87 W150 with a 318 that needs an intake and carb. I just swapped the truck over to an electronic ignition. I do not have any 318 inakes I have a few 360 4bbl and 2bbl intakes a 340 4bbl intake and an LD340 intake to choose from. I have a couple 600cfm 4bbls and a few of the large 2bbls off 360s. I know all the intakes I have have larger ports than my 318 heads, my local part store lists 2 intake gaskets for 318's the small port 2bbl gasket and the large port 4bbl gasket due to 4bbls using 360 heads. Which gasket do I need to run the larger port intake on my small port heads?

340/360 gasket.. but if I was you Id find a 318 manifold.

You really need the right intake but if your going to do it anyways I would use the larger port gasket.

Thanks for the replys I have been on the lookout for a 318 intake, I bought the truck because it had a nice stepside bed on the back that I wanted for another project. Once I got it home I figured it was still a usable truck so I figured I would get it going rather than part it and use it as a plow truck and drive it in the winter so I dont have to drive my dart or crewcab in the snow this winter. I was hoping to get by using parts I already have I have tons of truck parts but mostly 360 and big block stuff. I will probably hit a few pick and pull yards see if I can find a stock 2bbl intake. I got the truck with a 4bbl eddy proformer on it with a eddy1406 on top but the kid that owned it befor me stripped out all holes for the carb studs on the intake and did a poor job sealing the intake so it has some major vaccum leaks.

I run a stock 4-v intake on my small port 318 heads

I use the felpro HP 1213 (IIRC)gaskets with the heat cross over block with some thin sheet metal block offs. the gasket burns thru in time with out the metal shims.

I would use the LD 340 intake with a 600 eddy carb

I have an LD4B with 318 ports and have run it on 360 heads on a 318 before with the same large port felpro gaskets.

if you run a stock intake with a q-jet on the small port 318 heads adjust the airdoor on the 2ndarys to come in high up in the rpm range for no bog on transition.

I kept tightening mine till the bog went away on the small 318 heads now its a scremer and sounds like a chebby 350

Thanks Scratch I did a search and I remember seeing members posting it worked for them. The truck was being sold as a parts truck but I have mostly every thing it needs in my parts stash to get it back on the road. I just wanted to use what I have and keep it low budget because I am already working on a bigblock swap in my 85 w350 crewcab.
