1970 Barracuda w/ V4X Black Strobe Stripe

Cool car... very rare.

No offense to anyone, because that IS cool.... but its strange how much I LOVE AAR strobes, but I can't stand THOSE strobes and how they slope down in the rear. How in the world did those get a green light?

They don't "slope down" - they follow the body line - they're just "shorter" on the quarter panel than they are on the fender.

Yeah, I know.... but my eye sees it as 'sloping'. Why would you not follow the muscular quarter line? Wait, they did with the hockey stripe and the AAR strobe. They knew how to do it... for some reason, they let Droopy in accounting get his way for once and this is what he came up with.

If you had the side trim, it would run straight with the character line. This is no different. Perhaps the strobe is playing tricks with your eyes?

Well, its the bottom of the decal that runs parallell with the body line. The top of the decal is at a different angle... so it slopes. Up or down depends on which way you decide to scan the car. Either way, I'm bored.

I've looked on the Hamtramck web site and can find no mention of these stripes available on 1970 Barracuda's.
I guess it's like the V21 V25 hood and deck lid stripes on 1972 RR's that were also available on any Plymouth 2 door Satellite model too.
Not too many ordered because, who knew.

1/28/70: Effective with early February production, two new High impact paints, Sassy Grass Green [FJ6] and Moulin Rouge [FM3], will become available. Wide body-side tape stripes will be available. Interior trims are limited to Black [X9] White & Black [XW] and Black Frost [A8]. Vinyl roofs and convertible tops are limited to White [V1W] and Black [V1X]. Tu-Tone paint treatments are limited to Black and White roofs only. Body-colored mirrors will be available. Four new wide body-side tape stripes are available except when Body-Side Moldings or the Hockey Sport Stripe is ordered. Colors are Lime Daylite Fluorescent [V4], only available with Sassy Grass Green; Pink Daylite Fluorescent [V4M], only available with Moulin Rouge paint; Black [V4X] and White [V4W], available with all exterior paints.

V4M and V4J were Cuda only. V4X and V4W could be had on the other models.

That is one sharp GC rag...

The pink on pink stripe/FM3 paint is beautiful when seen in person, it really "pops".

i am owner of black cuda with white strobe and this car is an original white strobe and white leather interior car. have seen very few strobe cars and no other white stripe cars.

I have only two V4W cars recorded in the 1970 Hamtramck registry so far. One 318 'vert & one 340 'vert. I have not heard of any from LA yet, but there have to be more out there.

My old FM3 U code had the V4W stripes. It was an LA built car , but was not coded on the tag . Perhaps a dealer ad on in my case
I photographed a TX9 Convertible with the V4W stripes at the nats about 15 years ago. I think I recorded the fender tag as well since at the time I was trying to document v4* 'Cudas .

Love that stripe, if for any reason, because it's rare and NOT the AAR stripe. Also is reflective and looks great at night. I was going to put that stripe on the Quickfish before I sold her.

E-body stripes were not reflective.

The green one is bs23vob323243
