Carter AFB Metering Rod number to decimal equivelency - 07/24/12 11:06 PM

Does anyone know of a Carter AFB Metering Rod number to decimal equivalency chart that shows 16-XXX 2 step rod is .065 X 0.52 for old factory carbs? I am specifically looking for 16-403 and 16-405.

the only info i know of that might come close is the edelbrock metering rod chart. they give rod numbers with rod sizes.

The .0650 X .0520 is 16-485 I don't see the other numbers in my book.

It's for a 66 273 4 barrel, 4 speed car, but the only book I have is for a 67 so I was using carb humber 4294S. We are trying to lean it out a little at idle. I will PM you.

wouldn't you want to be working on the idle circuit rather than the "cruise" step of the rods

At idle the metering rods and jets are not coming into play unless the throttle butterflies are open to far ...

also John, if this is your early build Valiant being discussed keep in mond that the carb and intake setup you have is oddball having a manifold with no provisions for a choke apparatus. You might have a different issue unrelated to jetting or rods.

Is it me, or do they have some numbers flipped around on that chart for the 403 and 405?
