Griffin muscle car radiator? Anyone using one of these?

Looking at buying this Griffin radiator. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRI-5-571GA-FAX/ Was curious if anyone is using one. Can you use a factory shroud on these? Does it keep your car cool? Also how do the tranny cooler fittings line up with where the factory ones are?

I've had a Griffin "universal" radiator in my racecar since 1994, no issues, works fine; can't speak for the OEM-style, though. $600 seems spendy for the one in the link but it looks nice & probably fairly stock if painted black.

I have one in a 64 dodge (2 row 1 1/2 tubes, direct bolt in) 4 years now and no problems. I would do it again.

I have Wizard cooling radiator in my car, with stock shroud and fan. Works great in the hot humid summer.

I have a Griffin. The transmission cooler lines were not in the correct location. Griffin could not care less. Their after sales custom service was very poor.

I installed a 26" one in a buddy's car a few years ago. Dropped right in. Factory shroud bolted on perfect. Looked stock.

But... he ordered the higher horsepower version with the thicker core. Factory fan and clutch wouldn't fit. Had to install a Jaguar fan clutch. With the benefit of hindsight, he should have just ordered the stock replacement one which would have been more than adequate.

Another buddy purchased a 22" unit for his 340 'Cuda, and it did not resemble a stock unit. Had a stamped tank, but lacked the ribbing. On top of that, his car still runs hot, but I think he's got other issues.

I'm potentially in need a of a 22" radiator (my stock one is leaking, but repairable). Not sure I'd want to use one of the Griffins in my stock appearing engine bay.

I have one. It looks stock after I painted it with eastwoods radiator paint. I bought the paint at Jegs. The factory 326 shroud for my challenger drops right on but I did have to drill the shroud mounting holes. Can't say as to the performance yet as I haven't fired the engine yet.

I just recieved that same griffin a few weeks ago. I am happy with it. The stamped upper tank resemble a stock type tank and polished up very nice. I had a champion before and the wizard (my second choice) has the same kind of upper tank, which I didnt like. The welds on the wizard are much nicer then the champion though. There is a flange for the shroud to bolt to, you just need to drill the holes in the flange like posted above. I dont have stock trans lines so, no comment about how those would fit as I have braided lines.

Griffin's have epoxy, cant repair the take to core joint area. Tim

I have a 26" two core and I made my own shroud works really well!

..Griffin rads are epoxy dipped after welding..added leak protection.
leaks are easily welded if required.
i have the musclecar rad and itis similar to factory but obviously not correct..i like it

Ok just ordered this one. Can anyone tell me if it comes with any of the fittings? Or do I need to buy those? If so what size do I need to fit the radiator? Will I be able to swap out my trans cooler fittings from the factory radiator? Thanks

I ordered this Griffin radiator for an E-body.

From my experience. I ordered the radiator, without any of the mounting holes added. I did this so I could place it exactly, where I wanted it to sit. The factory shroud bolted on however, there was a slight gap between shroud and radiator. I added some foam to the shroud side to close this small gap. Not sure what you are going to do for an overflow but you may need to consider this if you haven't yet.

The transmission fittings from my old radiator screwed into the new Griffin. Not sure what size they are but they interchange.
