Valve springs for 440 with 509 cam? - 05/12/12 03:33 AM
I'm looking for valve springs to put on a 440 with a 509 cam. I've been told to find a good single spring, such as the mopar P5249848, what other brands are comparable?
Thanks

A set of these should be fine.

Put a "wanted" ad out in the Big Block Parts Classifieds on this site if you don't see some for sale already.
I did a few years ago and got more replies than I needed. Lots of guys are selling their "take-off" springs that came on this Edelbrock heads. They work well with a MP 509 cam.

your cam sheet would have come with a recommended spring strength.

Just wanted to ask about the Stealth springs, from what I am seeing they are singles with a damper, rated for max .600 lift, which is fine. It looks like the locks are only rated to .510, any issues here?
Also it says that the stealth heads are clearanced for larger diameter springs, will the stealth springs fit a stock 915 head? Their site lists the od on the spring as 1.550"
Thanks
