1970 Cuda vs 1970 Challenger Trunk Pan - 05/05/12 05:01 PM

Starting a restoration on a 1970 Cuda AAR can anyone confirm if they used the same trunk pans as the 1970 Challengers, have access to a NOS Challenger pan but not sure if compatible

Thx

The gas tank filler tubes are in different locations,so the hole for the tubes are different. The Challenger gas filler tube is on the right rear quarter panel, the Cuda is in the rear behind the license plate.

The E body trunk pans break down into the standard category, 1970 is a 1 year deal, 71-4 grouped together,...

while the pans are identical in shape and size, plug holes and shock holes will remain the same for the corresponding years in the two groups above,...but the challenger pan "if cut" for the fuel neck will be on the passenger side of the floor, where as the Cuda filler tube hole is rearward,....being NOS the floor may/may not have all the holes/openings cut open, which would be a bonus for you as well as being 1970 as well,.. as the shock plug holes are located on top, but all the impressions/ribs/etc are the same between the pans, it's just a matter of what holes were punched out depending upon the application, worse case using the challenger pan is welding up the fuel tube opening if it's been punched? and relocating a hole in the rearward boss...

Here is a picture of my original floor 70 Cuda that is orange and my original trunk floor for my 70 Challenger which is blue. Challenger one is more towards the shock tower on that little raised area for the gas filler neck to go thru the hole. Cuda hole for filler neck is in the back on a similar looking raised flat area for the filler neck to slide thru. Both us same rubber grommet/seal.

Mopar to you!

Thanks for the input / shots, NOS Challenger does have gas tube punched out but as mentioned could be infilled, assume NOS always better, if person was to use repo panels who produces a quality product, I have heard AMD mentioned

O/T, but for a car made in late 1970 (Oct 1970) for a 1971 car (my 'Cuda for instance), which style would most likely would it have?

Holes on top? Or holes on the side?

We have four E Bodies here at my house. Sept 70 built 1971 Challenger has the 70 style floor pan. Nov. 70 build, both 1971 Cudas have the 70 or first generation floor pan. June 71 built 1971 Challenger has a 72 Style second Generation style floor pan. The main difference between the two pans is the shock access hole location, there are other differences also.
