Grease new ball joints?

Grease new ball joints? - 03/23/12 11:42 AM

I'm hoping to finally get back on the road this weekend after a long drawn out front disc brake conversion and front end rebuild. According to the service manual the ball joints and tie rod ends are "semi-permanently lubricated with special lubricant at the factory". Do new replacement parts meet that criteria... or do they need to be greased? Thanks

If they have the zerk fittings, I'd grease em! Be careful not to over fill and burst the boot!

Yes grease em & I like to put several good pumps in before installation when there's no load on them then move the ball around to spread the grease. Overkill probably but that's me

Anytime I install frt end parts I grease them as long as they have a Zerk. They are lubed at the factory just to prevent rust.Rocky
