Disc brake vs drum brake master cylinder

Disc brake vs drum brake master cylinder - 03/23/12 05:03 AM

Previous owner of my '69 Barracuda put disc brakes from a '73-up A body on the front but it appears to have the original drum brake master cylinder. I'm using the car for a race car and don't want to throw money at it if I don't have to. So, will the original master cylinder work or do I need a disc brake MC?

You DO want to stop, right?
The Disc M/C has a larger front reservior to adequately serve the larger volume of fluid that the calipers require.
Its only about $25 plus fluid for an AutoZone rebuilt one. Money well spent.

Good thought. I was trying to avoid having to change the brake lines since I'm convinced the fittings will be different sizes.

Same size lines, same fittings on the ends too.
