Carb float setting, Holley six pack - 03/12/12 07:43 PM
So I just got done setting the floats on the six pack with a 5-6psi thumper pump on the bench as a "starting" point. Now when I fire this ol girl up, how much should I see the fuel level drop? Currently the fuel is barely dribbling out of the sight hole.
Im just curious is all, as I really hate messing with fuel levels on a running engine. Scares the crap out of me and I hate bubbling paint from the fuel.
Just asking.

The traditional method is to set the fuel level to where when you rock the eng sideways a bit it dribbles out slightly so on the bench w the carb at the same rake as it is when installed you'd want it a bit lower than where it is now if it's dribbling out untouched

I am hopeing its not gonna take much adjustment. and also that engine running should drop it a touch. Ill find out here in a few days.

not sure if it'll drop or not or if the pump will make up for what the idle circuit uses & as you know the eng uses the least amt of fuel at idle which is why psi is initially checked at idle for a max reading. Just dont want it to get on your paint & ruin it

I really should buy the clear sight plugs and get things set, then pull those out and put the brass plugs back inn. The clear plugs are kind of a joke IMHO but a nice tuneing tool.

Break off easily, and they fog up.
