no pics. i need a hoist for that and i spend to much time driving. i have a 72 road runner with a 600+ ci hemi. i mounted a areomotive A1000 on the flat part of the floor behind the rear seat slightly in front of the rear axle. the fuel line, 10an, goes thru the frame rail, runs tight against the wheelhouse, then along the inside of the rocker pinch weld, tight against the inner fender to a external carb regulator. i ran a return line on the other side of the frame rail to the tank.
i mounted a areomotive rpm variable relay box in the trunk above the fuel pump.
it has worked great with over 30K trouble free miles. i have a buddy who has the exact same setup in 4 hemi clone cars also and he drives more than i do. the only problem is it's $$$$. the pump, regulator, and relay box is close to $1000. the braided lines and fittings were about $300.

Is it really necessary to go with a variable box ???

Its cool .. but is it worth it ???

I make a bracket and mount that bracket in between the shocks insulated to the trunk floor (with rubber grommets)

it's not 100% necessary to use the variable box. but your fuel pump will last longer, run quieter, and most important when your fuel pump is running it heats up the fuel when it pumps it. yes you have a return line to help keep it cool but it will be cooler if you don't heat it up in the first place.

Variable or Step Down Box. - 05/22/08 09:59 AM

My story. I ran a BG 280 fuel pump with the step down box. It was necessary on the street, mainly due to the fact the pump was running at full capacity, full amps full on full time.

One difference though, no return line. I did not run one, as on this model it was not required.

For a street car, if I had to do it all over again...

The Aeromotive SS is a nice setup, no 'extra' box to run.

And, run a return line back to the fuel tank. That I think makes a bigger difference in the long run.

My car is a Dart Sport and I have stock tank with two -10 bungs out of bottom into the fuel filter, then into pump -8 out of pump into fuel reg. up front, then two -6.

In the floor of the trunk, is where the fuel pump is mount on a box style of a bracket that holds the pump to protect it from underneath, so it is seen from the back end.

Overkill? Yes. I was too lazy to bend up regular fuel line, it's the fittings that cost the $$$.

So, in short, fuel pump with return line, then -8 upto the front then -6 to carb.
