Is anybody using Champion racing plugs - 03/09/12 03:21 AM

My plugs are too hot in in my 440. I'm using the motorhome 452 peanut plug heads with Champion RV9YC I need to go to a colder plug. After talking to Champion and Autolite they say the only way to get a colder is to go to the racing plugs V59YC. Autolite warned me that they will foul easily if the motor is idling alot but Champion didn't say anything about it. Is anybody using them in a street car ? do they work OK ? I'm starting to regret using these heads especialy when I had a set of 906's that I could have used.

Champions are the best for not fouling and best for cleaning up on their own if they do foul a bit!
59 is medium cold you should be fine but would 61's not be cold enough!!!

I use Champion C59Ys or C59YCs in my SB racecar, but it has a serious ignition and doesn't idle much. I'm guessing the V means a shorter reach?

I'm running and MSD 6Al, Stock Distributor with advance mod and an MSD Blaster II coil I think for the street I'm OK in the ignition department. I don't have much choice but to run these plugs unless I want to pull the heads and put my 906's on it and I don't want to do that right now...... maybe next winter.

I imagine a competitor would tell you anything about somebody elses product. I have the Champion racing plugs in mine and they do just fine.

It was Autolite saying it about their plugs. They also said that your not supposed to touch the electrode it is set from the factory. It was almost like he was trying to scare me away from buying his product. Champion didn't say anything of the sort so I ordered Champions.
