one last time about 8 3/4 rear for fat tires - 10/21/08 11:22 PM

i want to put a 10 wide wheel and and at least a 295 50 15 possibly a 325 50 15 under our challenger
i was under the impression that if i used a 66-67 b body rear and offset hangers i could do this
i have found a 66 8 3/4 rear but have also see a digram that list all mopar cars(mid 60-70s) rear end measurments
acording to it there is no differance at all from a 66-67 b body rear then a 68-70 b body
also thought the overall width was same but the perches were closer togeather????
so one final time
can i put this rearend under car with that wheel/tire i do not want to have to cut and reweld the spring perches
thanks

This combination usually works best:

1. '65-'67 B-body rearend
2. 10" wheels with 5" of backspacing
3. DoctorDiff 1" offset spring hanger/shackle kit

You do not have to move the spring perches

Your Challenger will look like this with 325/50/15s.

Doc I thought it was the 68-69 b-body that swapped in without moving the perches and using your offset hangers. Or will they all b-body work that way. I bought a 69 8 3/4 to put in my challenger because of a previous post on this. Is it the size of the rims that makes the 65-67 better?

Darryl that is a great shot. I'd like to see more pics of the car. Did you have any problems with the exhaust system?

shoot, i just bought a 69 b body rear which I see is slightly wider than the earlier rear.

If i get this offset hanger kit and 10" wheels, will the 325's fit my 70 cuda? or is there a different offset or backspacing required?

The slightly wider '68-'70 B-body rearends also bolt in, but the optimal backspacing on a 10" wheel is around 5.25".

Most off-the-shelf wheels are available in 5" or 5 1/2" backspacing.

The exhaust system is from TTI, including the headers. The exhaust is 3 inch, the only trouble i had is i needed to have a longer rubber brake line made.

I used the same with the Dr Diff kit and a 67 B body 8 3/4. Worked great. I had to move my fuel line is a bit because the spring rubbed on it a slightly.

Thanks, Both of those cars are awsome. I'm not going to use 10" rims so I think the 69 unit I have will work for me.
