V10 in a 1947 dodge truck - 02/29/12 12:15 AM

I have a 1947 dodge truck that I have been running with a 318 and 904, Dakota front clip. I have a chance to buy a 1997 ram 4x4 with a V10. So what I need to know is will the V10 bolt up to the 904? Will the 904 handle the V10? Is the V10 internally or externally balanced?Does any one make a manifold to carb the V10, What about ign?

904 don't bolt up. It would need serious mods to hold the power if you found a way to adapt it. To run a carb you would need a custom sheet meatl one made. For ignition the only carbed one I ever saw had (I think)two 5 cylinder audi distributers modified to fire the ten plugs, driven off the crank with some sort of fancy custom drive set up.

the 904 you have wont bolt up and isnt strong enough anyway----however there are built 904 running behind built 426 hemi drag cars running 1000hp up----the V10 shares a bellhousing with the cummins motor---best bet would be to find a 2 wheel drive 1994 v10 one----and there is a guy on this site that builds custom looms for the efi motors---think he might even be able to flash the computers---bob
