Brake Booster Rubber Boot

Brake Booster Rubber Boot - 02/26/12 03:05 AM

On a 72 B-body with power brakes is there any kind of foam or other material in the rubber boot on the power brake booster that is under the dash. Mine has little pieces of brown foam rubber coming out the holes. What can be used to replace the foam?

Mine was in the same boat. I actually ended up buying a new booster anyway. I was planning to just buy some black foam at a hobby/fabric store and cut it to the shape I needed which seemed to be a conical shape of some sort.

I do believe that the foam is round like the boot and fits snug in the end of the boot where the holes are but how long is the foam 1" or is it longer?

Just by looking at mine, it looks to be about as long as the boot is when extended
