I bought mine at NAPA. I asked this same question about 6 weeks ago. Don't mix them, use what the manual says to use.

Does it say on a sticker under the hood?

These organic coolants come in two flavors. The "DexCool" was one kind, and then there is another.

My car uses G-05 and it's made by Zerex.

OAT vs HOAT, that's what I was trying to remember! According to this jug of Zerex (luckily it's in my house right now), your 99 should take conventional coolant, and in model year 2001 is when it went to HOAT... But verify that with your sticker.

There are actually more than two flavors. Don't use the universal unless you have an empty flushed system. My VW uses GL-12 and has warnings all over the manual and under the hood to only use that specification. I have witnessed the brown diahrea that results from mixing coolants in other vehicles.

I have always used the extended life Prestone. I use it in my classics and DD's. It says it mixes with all types and I have topped off or changed my DD's (98 Neon, several vintages of Durango, 2008 Caliber) with the same type with no problem.

The Universal mixes with all coolants. We used it for years at the shop with no problems in tons of different cars. You cant mix the old standard Green with Dex cool or some others.Rocky

If the prestone and other universals didn't mix with other antifreezes don't you think there would be mass law suits in the media by now from destroyed engines

I use Universal mix from NAPA, and have for many years, on everything I have. No issues. That said, along with all the vehicles I have in my signature, I've also used this on:

2005 300C AWD
2008 Ram Hemi
IH 560
AC 190
NH 9070 Combine
NH TG255 tractor
NH 8970 tractor
Versatile 846
AGCO DT225B tractor

Farm stuff switched to DexCool or whatever the red stuff is called around 2001-2002, so my 1999 8970 still had green coolant but my newer stuff did not. With 3 people working on the farm, I had to decide whether to stock 1 style coolant that works with everything (universal), or try to keep green in green and red in red with my Dad randomly grabbing any bottle that says coolant and dumping it in!!

So, since 2005 or so, I only buy the Universal and have used it in almost everything I own ever since. Only my Hemi Ram hasn't had it, but I haven't had to add any since I bought her in Nov 2011!

Whenever I check someone elses coolant level and discover the fluid is a brown color with slime lining the reservoir, I know they have used a non original replacement. I fell into this trap myself when I changed the water pump on the wife's '05 T&C and used prestone universal to replace the lost fluid. Over the course of about six months the fluid changed to a brown color and became lumpy and slimy. I flushed the system and refilled from scratch with some overpriced coolant purchased from the dealer. I suppose this doesn't mean an incompatability issue has occured by mixing of fluids as long as they do their jobs. Maybe it's only aesthetics.

Water Wetter admits to that.

I had a 95 mustang I put water wetter in and thought I blew a head gasket when I checked my coolant a month later.
(chunky brown stuff floating in resevior.)

After searching the net I found a complaint sent in to water wetter and there response was something like "Do to a reaction with rust preventatives in certain antifreezes water wetter will appear to clump up when anti freeze is cold, do not worry it dissolves as it warms up and retains still retains its properties"

Our shop has used it for years (universal antifreeze)in every thing which is probably hundreds of cars per year and never had a complaint or issue.
