1969 B body manual disc brakes help - 02/18/12 10:59 PM

Ok, here is my dillema. I want to run a factory mopar style disc brake set up on my car with 10 inch rear drums and a 1969 B body manual master cylinder. Is there any simple type swap that I can do to make that happen? Im ok with running a 1970 and newer spindle, rotor and caliper set up. The issue is that I have to run a 1969 B body manual master cylinder for sure. Any help would be great

..anything '73 and later A E or F body.
..transfer everything between the ball joints.
..remove the residual pressure valve from the master cylinder to the front lines.
..big rear tires, smaller rear wheel cylinders or prop valve in rear line.

my 68 has manual disks/drums. used 73 satellite knuckles and outer parts. I dont remember what master cylinder was used. used a proportioning valve from a dart with factory manual disk/drum setup

I'll have to ck but I don't think the 69 B-body disc brake master cylinder has provisions to retain a manual brake push rod.

I use 1970 B-Body manual disc brake master cylinder with manual brake push rod.. Still have the original 1969 GTX disc brakes on my car. It has been this way for 20 years.

Was a '66-70 B-body even available with manual discs? I don't think so, however, it seems most rebuilt master cylinders with after market rebuild kits I have run across tend to have the retaining ring groove machined in the piston.

I dont have a problem running a body knuckles, calipers and rotors. The issue is maintaining the correct looking master cylinder.

When I first got my SSBC front disc kit to replace my manual drum brakes, it came with what I believe was an A body disc master.
Ran the car with this for a while till I upgraded to the correct Bendix power booster & master...

The only available manual disc brake car was A-bodies

What I did was use the rotors, calipers, and lower control arms from a 70 B body. It uses a different sway bar and mount so the calipers don't interfere with outer mounts of the sway bar.

You need to use a master cylinder without the residual valve. I used the newer style Mopar master cylinder (the flat one, not the angled one)
