Rod adjustment question for power brakes... - 02/17/12 12:52 AM

74 Dodge Dart. When installing the new master cylinder I checked to see if the booster push rod made contact with the piston in the new master cylinder. It was about 1/8" short of touching. Do I turn the adjusting tip out to touch the piston or leave it with the play? Thanks everyone!

what I did was turn it out till it started to move the master and then dialed it back a little.

you can see a hole in the bottom of the master and see when the piston moves because of the rod.

otherwise the pedal will move without any resistance before brakes start to apply.
which will suprise anyone but you driving the car.

Should there be any pre-load on the piston or just have it touch without moving?
