What's a ballpark figure for having an aluminum wheel's lip straightened after it's been dented, like so?:

depends on what the wheel is for. basicly reconditioned wheels cost $125, dealer cost, at the body shop i work at.

Hard to tell from just that pic but it looks like you could clean a LOT of that yourself with some wood dowling and light taps of a hammer?

You can do it yourself for free to little. I have done 4 conquest 16 x 9 each had a similar dent. The key is to warm the dented area with a torch. I used a low heat similar to soldering copper pipe just to take the chill of the dented area. I have a 1/4 aluminum plate that is cut rounded to the opening area. Place the rim on the ground next to an immovable object. warm the dented area, place the plate on top smack with a hammer until straight. You will have to have someone stand on the rim, or somehow keep it stationary. Re-apply heat as necessary. When done I sanded mine, and left the entire rim brushed aluminum with black centers. I was quoted upwards of $100-$150 to straighten each one. Did it myself for free!!! If you want to see the results I will post pics.

I would think it would be cheaper to buy a used std 16" Conquest rim than pay someone to fix it. Now the optional wider 16x9 rims might be a different story

I was quoted over $200 from Stockton wheel for a similar dent on a 16x8 Centerline.

That lip looks bad! It also looks completely decorative. Can you find a machine shop with a lathe big enough to simply cut off the lip on all 4 wheels (to make them match)?

Weldcraft,

As posted in the link above by Bossride, weldcraft has done many for us, sons 99 Z-28 wheel was bent a little worse than yours it was 60.00 to fix it.

By the way if you have Allstate or AAA road service they cover up to 100.00 on a bent rim that was done due to a roadhazzard/pothole (thats what kills them here in the Motor city).
Good luck ............Paul
