just picked up a pre-1970 B-body 8 3/4 diff. i know the perches will have to be moved. it is
only a 1.5" per side wider track,
so my question is, can i still use the stock offset factory rims? thanks.

If you have any kind of tire bulge, you usually need an 8" wide wheel with 5" of backspacing.

i was doin some ruff measurements, and it looks like a 275/60/15 will fit with that diff in my duster no problem.

Sounds about right. You will want to measure for maximum backspacing, however.

I think that you will be fine with the 8's. I my 10 worked fine with 5 inch back spacing and a 10.5 slick.

Use Mustang 17x8 rims with the 5.72 backspacing.

Just how "pre-1970" is it? The 68-70 rears were wider than the 65-67 units, something like an extra 1/2" per side. On a fat-fender Duster, you MIGHT be able to get away with a 17x9 or 17x10 Mustang-type wheel with ~6.4" of backspace. If you're using the narrower 65-67 unit, you may not be able to tolerate that much BS, but there are other wheel options in the Mustang family.
I'm running the 65-67 rear in my Valiant, and with 17x8-5.7"BS wheels and 245/45 tires, I've got a fat inch to the springs on the inside and ~1/2" to the outer wheel well (slightly massaged, not rolled).

1968 b-body 8.75, 15x8.5" wheels with 4.5" bs'ing, 275/60/15 tires. Plenty of room, all around.

whatever the case.. its still only 1.5" longer per side. not a big deal,
easy to mod the perches, and plenty-o tire room to boot afterwards.
