Stripping Down Body

I am wanting to strip the the body on my Charger down to bare metal due to too much paint an hidden problems. I know that sand blasting is too rough for the metal, how is crushed glass? Too abrasive? Not abrasive enough? Your thoughts are appreciated.

I am sure many have had success with media blasting, but I have heard others warping panels by sand blasting, particularly big panels like roofs and quarter panels

had mine blasted but they use a plastibead on the large panels so no warping it will even pull all the filler out.

Soda blasting or potassium nitrate blasting will remove the paint and not create the heat of sand blasting.

Blasting? I never blast

I had a soda blaster quote me $1700 to do a completely stripped A body convertible. Inside/outside, and all body parts. While I have not had it done, when the time comes I will buy a blaster, and several hundred pounds of soda and blast it myself. I have used Aircraft stripper in the past, messy, dries too fast in AZ, expensive gallon at a time, several applications usually necessary if car has been repainted and needs to be rinsed with water when completed (remember bare metal). Sand is too course and will warp panels, there are other media to use (walnut shells etc) but you might have to look into which ones are safe for body panels.
If you want an inexpensive start, go buy a box of razor blades and a good handle and you'll have most of the paint and primer off in no time, plus you can vacuum it up, put it in a ziplock and impress your freinds. My brother stripped a 71 vette this way and I stripped a 69 dart this way. Only used about a dozen blades. When your done you can use a DA with semi course disc to get the rest.

i used aircraft stipper, just be sure to wear gloves and have mask when you apply, once all the paint is gone, you can take da and light sand with 120 grit to prepare for the primer

A car painter told me he does not like to paint cars that have been "soda" stripped as there are adhesion problems because of the soda. I am not sure if he was talking about the soda itself or the fact that the soda does not "etch up" the metal like sand or plastic beads do.
I have had others tell me that the soda leaves a film that needs to be rinsed well before priming.
Any personal experiences out there??
