'74 Duster Doors V.S. '72 Demon Doors in my bath room! - 01/24/12 05:06 AM

I finally tracked down a set of rust free unmollested Dodge Demon Doors from April of '72.

I needed a different driver side door (couldn't fix the crash damage on the one I had). So I decided to track down a set with out the heavy crash bar.

I weighed both of my '74 Duster doors (with the crash bar) and both of the Demon (with out the crash bar) on my bath room scale.... in my garage.

First the Duster Doors (with crash bars):
Driver side - 85lbs
Passenger Side - 84lbs

Now the Demon Doors (with OUT crash bars):
Drive side - 68lbs
Passenger side - 69lbs

I went back and weighed all four doors (2 with the crash bar and 2 with out) to varify my readings. No granted this is a bath room scale and isn't exactly a precision piece of equipment.

Both sets of doors were complete with glass (minus the interior panel).

I hope this helps somebody somewhere!

Well atleast now I know how much
my Demon door's weigh.
But I'm not sure those will interchange.

They should interchange. I had one bolted on the hinges last night and it seemed to work out pretty well.

The difference is the location of the inside pull handle and the armrest base. they will physically interchange but the door panel and such need to come from the 72 , you might be able to modify your 74 door panel to fit though.

I was thinking of buying new interior panels and going with the interior of a '72 Demon.

I piked up the steel sail panel (the trim piece around the pop out window) to replace the plastic one that was in my car.

Once I get the '72 doors on my car and squared away I was planning on selling the '74 Doors and a few black interior parts that are still in good shape.

The exterior sheet metal stamping is the same, but the inner framework is different. As stated, the door latch and upper panel near the window is different. Not a big deal for the NON resto crowd though.
