brake hoses source and options?

brake hoses source and options? - 01/15/12 11:17 PM

I need to replace the rear brake hose on my car, it is after all 42 years old and has developed a leak. Looking for options and sources. None of my local stores carries the rubber lines, and wondering if I should upgrade to a stainless flex line. Suggestions?

Really?

I got the one for my '63 at O'Reilly's.

I had to ask for a '70 Charger IIRC.

I got the front and rear hoses for my '62 Plymouth at NAPA. They have a pretty full line. You can check availability on their website. Rockauto.com is probably a good option too.

Autozone, Oreilly, and Napa do not have a listing for it. Is there one from a C body that would fit?

There was a post about this before. It was said that in 1970 the rear brake hose screws into the T on the rear axle. Other years have the hose crimped onto the T. I know the parts stores carry the later crimped style but not the 1970 one. I don't know if the later year style will work for you or not.

I've never had any problems getting that part for any year from the local parts store. Try a 1971 Road Runner or other B Body, I'm sure it's the same.

this is a screw in hose on a 3 port brass block with vent bolt from a 67 polara 8 3/4 IIRC

does it look like yours on the 70?

Call up Randy at Dixie Restorations,770-975-9898. I bought my brake lines and fuel lines from him. He can get you the stainless one as well, that is what I got.

thank you or the links. It does screw into the block. I will give the other two sites a call in the morning. Been great weather and the girl needs to be on the road, now hiding in the garage.
