What sort of grease are you supposed to use on the little "pads" on the rear drum backing plates that the brake shoes ride on? I forgot. uch:

Brake grease?

I use the silicone based stuff myself (won't melt under high heat situations).

I use the silicon based caliper grease as well, but only after I deburr and "polish" the contact pads with a dremel and a wire wheel. This allows for smoother movement of the shoes.

I've had backing plates that had wear marks which interfeared with the smooth movement of the shoes. I had to carefully remove the rough edges to restore the contact pads prior to smearing the thinest layer of the grease on the contact areas.

Don't use too much grease either of you will contaminate the brake pads.
