anybody know the best way to remove hood springs from hinges while on car? without injury? thanks! car is 70 challenger with r/t hood.

Stuff washers in between the coils.

Support the hood first!
Then hook the front loop with a fan belt pulling toward the front of the car and unhook it.
Last, let the spring pull back.
It's easier & less likely to cause damage if you have a helper to catch it after you release the tension.
It's not as difficult as it might sound

It is pretty easy to do it like this, there is no major risk of springs releasing suddenly and causing carnage, you'll be surprised
