I bought this a while back. Posted a few pics. Its a 35 sedan. Missing a rear fender and a hogepod of parts. Has a title for the 35 frame.

I have been doing a lot of work on my property trying to make it a ranch, so no new work on my shop.

But I hope to soon get some time and looking for direction. No front end under it. Needs a lot. It has a straight trailer axle under the rear. It came with an 8 3/ B body housing, no center chunk.

I really want to build a coupe, like my 38 I sold years ago and have been searching for something affordable. But this may do for a while but Im having trouble getting excited over it.

That is the plan for the stude! I have been searching for a cheap DAK!

I WANTED a 40s Dodge, but there is not enough room to be comfy.

The very first hot rod I built from scratch was a 35 Dodge 2 door flat back sedan (A Dodge version of your Plymouth). Yours is in better shape then the one I started with. I got a good title and a pile of rusted junk. I'll see if I can find pictures.
I built a ladder style frame with 2" x 3" rectangle tubing, added a Volari front clip (it was too wide). I added a 318, 904 auto, and a 8 1/4 with 3:55 gear sure grip. We put 66,000 mile on that old Dodge in 7 summers, it was a great car. Gene

"..... Im having trouble getting excited over it......"

Yeah I kind of feel the same way about that particular car and it costs just as much to build a car you don't really like as it does to build what you want. It's also a lot harder to keep motivated on the build.

Now the Studebaker truck...... wrench

I had one of those set aside. They have a HUGE engine compartment and are a natural for am Aspen/Volare subframe.... easier than properly doing a complete frame swap. I already had the subframe, 1st Gen Hemi and 727 scrounged up for mine when I came across my 37 Dodge PU, so the Stude and subframe went away to be someone elses project.

another idea to keep in mind----using a jaguar xj6 front clip and rear clip--guys dont realize they are a little more narrow---on a 50 hudson i used 1.25 inch hub spacers and police car wheels to make it wider----the hubs run a 4.75 chevy pattern--the spacer also adapted to the 4.5 pattern---onto the the jag rear--the center section is a dana 44--you can buy anything performance you want for the 44-----the only down side to the front clip is it is a rear steer rack and pinion----you have to pay attention to the room for your rear sump engine-----i watch for jags ready to go the crusher---divert to my house--front clip unbolts off with basically 4 bolts----jag continues to the crusher----bob

Car has some pretty straight lines going from back to front. I think it's look sweet with a bit of rubber rake.

The color has to be dark to make it look like a Colt .45 pistol.

Tires have to be up in the fenders and fenders could be widened/body tubbed for wider rears.

Body could be channeled over the frame to cut the car's apparent height. It keeps more window than chopping the top. Channeling does reduce headroom, though, same as chopping.

Picture shows the grille just leaning against stuff, it is normally much more vertical. I think it'd look better with a bit more angle than stock.

R.

That sedan has really nice lines IMOP.. It would make a really nice street machine..

Early 70's a local had a 40 ford sedan he ran around town.. Always remember it more than the coupes...
