Other than Moser or Strange, anyone doing custom length 60's in the PA/NJ/DE area. Why waste money on shipping if I can get it locally. Have you tried 4x4 and offroad shops near you?

Pretty sure the good Doctor will put one together at whatever length you need, with whatever you want in it. http://www.doctordiff.com/strange-60.htmlEdit: just saw the local part.... nevermind, I guess.

I did one locally, bought a truck housing and had it cut down and gears installed. I know I saved money but being able to make one show up with a few mouse clicks would have been nice.

Use the S60 if starting from scratch. Side adjusters are sooooo much nicer The most truthful words ever spoken on a mopar site lol. Just finished a gear swap on my normal no side adjuster dana....

Thats what I did. Bought the stuff from Dr. Diff and took the full floater truck housing with all the parts to my local chassis shop. For under $400, they welded on the ends and installed/setup the ring and pinion.

Strange builds very nice stuff. Talk to a dealer. They have freight to deal with as well and sales tax. But for an item like that, may be able to work with you as long as you don't try to beat them up for every dollar on the best unit you can buy. Plenty of shops in that area.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

All else being equal, unless you perform most of the labor, you will rarely save money over the cost of a mail order Dana 60 assembly. Freight cost is also negligible, as the components must be shipped anyway. See below: http://www.doctordiff.com/strange-60.html

There's a shop in Greensburg, PA called Greensburg Machine & Driveline.
The owner is a Mopar guy, has a Dodge pulling truck
The # is (724)837-8223, I think they're open from 8:00AM-5:00PM Mon-Fri

You didn't say your application race or street. For race nothing beats Mark Williams. Strongest axles lightest components worth doing it only once the right way.

I scored a couple of Dana 60 truck rears off craigslist for cheap. Bought some parts from Dr. Diff and used gearsets bought from members here. Have a friend that has the bearing cups, setup shaft, and jig to narrow the housings. Set them up myself...strong rear for cheap.
