Which one? I have a couple cars i could use it on. Innovative?
Drag race, stret/strip, cruiser kind of stuff. I don't want to buy one and wish I bought something else, but I also don't want to buy something I don't need.

I have an Innovate mtx-l wideband kit and used them in the past... never used another brand so can't say if others are better or worse. They always worked great for me.

If your going to have it on a drag car get one that has data logging.
I have 10 daytona O2's on the dyno and they have been nothing but trouble free.

I recently bought and installed a digital Innovate gauge kit. It was easy to install and seems to show very quick, accurate and responsive changes in A/F ratio.

I was using the portable FAST unit with reasonably good results, but the Innovate gauge is easier to read.

The FAST portable unit has a rudimentary date logging and playback, where as the Innovate unit has an output that can be feed into a laptop with the software to use it.

I would rather have ordered the 3 foot lead, as the O2 sensor lead is relatively long itself. Now, I have the extra cable of the 6 foot lead coiled up under my carpet.

The Innovate unit is helping me sort out my jetting etc on my 3 mechanical DC sixpack carbs to a level I have never been able to approach before. It's an indispensable tuning aid. I'm working on my center carb metering block and IFR jets at this time to sort out the idle and very low speed fuel mixture.

I just lower the idle restrictors to the bottom of the metering block in the hopes it cleans up the variations in A/F ratios I'm seeing at low speed. I couldn't do this with out the A/F meter.

I recently bought and installed an Auto Meter wideband with an analog face. It does have data logging capability but, I've not tried to use it. I was a very easy install and it working great although, I don't like what it's telling me for my cruise AFR's which I can't seem to richen up but, that's a conversation for another thread.

I bought a Innovate LM-2 hand held and love it, useing it now to dial in my afr on a modifyed Dominator and record my passes to a SD card and plug the SD into a laptop, been very helpful.

I've had an AEM for about 10 years, no problems. Easy to read digital display.

i use a aem analog gage in my boosted car and it works great, if you use a lot of race gas it shortens the life of the o2 sensor!!

If you're using a grid for ignition they have a logging AF module for it.

When you look at the cost of the inovate system, the grid module being less than 200 buck,s makes buying a grid, and the module less money.

Have yet to use it but I bought the innovate DLG-1 to monitor both banks in one gauge readings are stacked. It's the one mounted to the roll cage.

I didn't know the grid did AF. I thought they were expensive though.

I have an MSD AFR-gauge which uses an Innovate controller.

I'm also using an Innovate MTX-L in my daily '73 Dart for over a number of years.
Goes through O2-sensors a bit quicker then I like, but that might be because the previous engine burned quite some oil.
The current sensor I have in the exhaust is a bit intermittend and usually only works for a few minutes before throwing an error-code.
Need to replace it soon, or maybe carefully try to clean it.

I've another MTX-L in my '60 NY with 496ci longram stroker engine.
At one time I had both MTX-L's installed so I could monitor both exhaust and engine sides.

We bought the LM-2 for tuning and and AEM failsafe for install/monitoring.
The AEM failsafe has built in logging/rpm/vacuum etc- but your only reading one bank.
You can program "failsafe" for nitrous/boost/danger lean/rich and have it kill the msd etc- pretty simple , easy to use unit with a lot of features, software is easy to use- usb cable is hardwired as a shorty and they send an extension, software is free and data capture is fast/easy to read.

LM-2 BASIC PACK DOES NOT COME WITH EVERYTHING - you will need to buy the deluxe set up or, purchase the data card and connections separately.
You cannot buy the right data card over the counter at Walmart/camera store, best buy- only Innovate/Jegs/Summit etc.

Its VERY picky about power so you can calibrate and to boot up sensors when starting the car.
As Dom explained to me- it uses the battery as a filter as well as power- does not like any other circuitry in between- at all.
Suggest direct to battery with relay or, for simple "in and out" testing , one can just use a motorcycle or lawn mower battery.
It does take longer for sensors to come on line than the AEM and there isnt any calibration needed for the AEM.

In testing both, we didn't see any data differences as far as reading AFR accuracy.

so, we tune with the Lm-2 as we can see both banks and then monitor at track, on street with AEM, pull our logs from it.

Hope this helps

I use a LM2, it’s an invaluable tool. Can’t imagine tuning without it!

Yes MSD makes a module for the grid ignition controller. Retail is I think 187 bucks. The module, which includes the sensor, plugs into the can bus, and it logs the reading across the rpm range of the data recording for that pass.

Very nice tool for cheap from MSD to expand the grid, and its logging capability.

The module also has an analog output to run an external gauge, and it will also feed directly to racepak as an additional channel
