Your talking about spiral pin locks right? Didn't know there was one. I use the smallest flat screw driver I have. The msd supplied screw driver for their switches is good too. I can do 32 locks in about 10 min.

That’s pretty good advice!!

I’m also one who uses a pocket screwdriver for that job.

It does seem that some pistons are easier to install them in than others.

there is only one per side, the first side goes in perfect.the second side AINT NO WAY.the last part of the clip will not go into the groove.it looks like the pin is just a hair too long.

Piston spec sheet should state how long of a piston pin it needs. Measure the pin and if it isn't right make a phone call to the manufacture

There are different versions of locks as well, like double vs triple spun so you might want to make sure you have the right locks as well.

What piston are you working with, a PN maybe?

I bought one of the spiral lock removal tools, total waste of money.
A good quality (hardened tip) small screwdriver works good.

And there you have your answer. Next step call the manufacturer

Just throwing this out there but if you are assembling your pistons I assume your assembly is already ready balanced. If you need new pins you may want to weight the old ones and the new ones to see what the difference in weight is. Gram scales are cheap at Harbor Freight, Walmart, or any office supply store if you don’t have one.

What has ever happened to the older style 2-pin-hole clips? Those are easy to install. Can the piston supplier give you an option of the clips with the pistons? Can they be swapped and still installed into the piston?
