cab, the pickup shocks have the same upper and lower mounts as the B & C body, and imperial shocks, and are a tad shorter than the imperial shocks. those are the LS39 upper, which is a sleeve for a 1/2" bolt, and an L2 lower, which is the rubber bushing only that fits the 11/16" lower plate stud. the B & C shock is 13.750 collapsed, 22.875 extended, while the pickup shock is 14.750 collapsed, 24.375 extended. the imperial shock for 1970-73 [and are the only years that are longer than the B & C body] is 15.600 collapsed, and 26.320 extended. this from my monroe master catalog. hope this can help someone decide something for their application. the pickup shocks may have a stiffer valving due to load hauling, but that would depend, i suppose, on the shock manufacturer.

When I ran a few B bodies in the 70's, I'd use station wagon long length shocks w/ SS springs and they worked well. With my 273/4 (300 HP), 9" converter and a 4.10 gear '65 Dart, I'll be using 2 L 3200 lbs SS springs. Any thoughts for a longer shock that's more over the counter than custom? Calvert Racing Shocks will give you adjustability and not break the bank....I have used them front and rear with SS springs and like them

I have to say that shocks will have a very big effect on how well the SS springs work--You have a race car right? So buy some real race shocks It is impossible to beat the KONI SPA-1's on the front If you set them where they pull apart the easiest you are ready--If you can't source them use QA-1 On the rear the QA-1 adjustables are killer--call them for part numbers about three clicks is great starting point 4 clicks on killer tracks You just need to look at pro cars and see what is on there--I know most are going Caltracs these days but even so ask the pros what shocks they are using Makes ALL the diff in the world to go ahead and drop the loot on real race shocks

I've been using SS springs for over 50 years, still use them. The big thing is that they extend enough.....you need at least 24". I use Comp Engineering 3 way adjustables set at 50/50. Priced right, and work good. The thing the old Imperial shocks had going for them is that they had the long extension. The new MP and other aftermarket shocks have that handled.

I also still use SS springs and I just use the Mopar Performance extended shocks. They have no adjustments as they are just a basic shock that extends longer so the SS springs can work. Been working fine on my 63. Ron
