That's a pretty stout mph number on motor, or are you spraying it? The ET is way slow for the MPH. Do you have progressive times?
Doug

572 motor with 440-1 was built for 6.0 heads up class and it runs on motor 5.96 to 6.03 at 118 mph . But with no nitrous cam set up on spray it runs on motor 6.11 at 116 mph but on spray 5.63 at 129 with nitrous control .Is the 572 -13 heads are they a lot better then -1s ? And I will change the cam when I change the heads . I just would like to know if you all have changed and run 572-13 are they a lot better ? THANKS

The best dash 1 heads I have seen went about 380 ish at 700 to 800 lift. Fully ported 572's can go 405 to 410. At least that is what they do here. I have done this deal several times and it is a significant gain. However, pistons need replaced as well as all the head hardware and spray bar covers with jesel rockers. It is not cheap and may be hard to justify the bang for the buck especially since you are already spraying it. Tough call for you. Todd

Unless you are planning on winging a big inch engine(over 572") over 7500 rpm and run a 800+lift cam you won't see much gain and my opinion what you gain isn't worth the money spent. If your starting a new build over 600" you might as well go with the Predator heads.

The 572 head is built off the same castings as the 440-1, just machined at a different angle to get 13 degree valve angle instead of the stock 15 degrees, plus the valves are moved a touch in order to get the 2.35 intake in there. I haven't seen enough gain from others on the board, or elsewhere to justify the $$ for the power you will gain. From what I have seen the improvement would be somewhere around 50 to 100 hp AT BEST. The ports aren't big enough to support any more than that.
I have gone 5.56 at 124 on motor at 3,000 lbs on methanol with fully ported 440-1 heads, and Cudabin has gone that fast or faster also. If I recall your heads aren't ported fully, correct? There are a number of things you could do to your current combo to increase power, but the cost is high at this level, as I am sure you know.

I have run 5.41 at 128.25mph with a 1.18 60 foot at 2,600 feet DA at 2,800 #'s... MCH 345cc CNC ported -1's with 557 cubic inch N.A.

If you are going to spray it, perhaps just work on the tune up, as the 572-13 will not be that big a step up IMO...

I am also using 10.5W but wish i had gone bigger.

Cheers,

Arnie
