Building this for a 68 Charger that will be backed up by a SST 5 speed manual and a Dana 60 4:11

After having the machine work completed, I will be running stock steel crank, stock rods, forged flat tops with reliefs at .030, zero deck, Close to 10.5:1

440source stealth heads, with Comp Cams 10 degree locks, Comp Cams Dual Valve Springs, with factory rockers Comp Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 275/287, Lift .525/.525 and double roller timing chain/gear and high volume oil pump

SO, with the above I need advise for street application oil pan and pickup tube, would like a factory style 7qt ??

Also need advice on street intake, carb, headers, and ignition

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!!

The factory 7qt replica replacement sold through Mancini and Hughes, etc, with a Milodon windage tray. The factory type pan made by Milodon is a great choice as well. The Milodon circle track pan is the best option, IMO, but considerably more $$$.

The Performer RPM would be a great choice for intake if carbureted or TBI. The obsolete Mopar M1 single plain would be my first choice if you can find it.

Hedman makes shorty headers that fit well and are easy to install. 78073 or 78076 depending on coating. I'm unsure as to the fit with Source stealth heads.

A recurved dizzy from FBO or Firecore would be a suitable ignition. MSD works well, but may be more than necessary.

Go fuel injection. It's not much more $$ and it'll drive better all around.

Best of luck.

Stock stamped rockers and 525 lift , double spring is over the limit--I love factory stamped rockers but with that set up you are asking for issues--the Summit Hemi oil pan is $95 and is the EXACT same pan others get much more for--it is more than up to the task

Thanks for the replies guys!

That replica pan is what I was looking for on the net, will check Hughes for sure.

Very interested in an EFI setup, but I dont know wher to begin. Do you have any recommendations?

As for the factory stamped rockers, the machine shop guy told me they would be fine for street use and occassional strip passes..... should I look into rollers?

Thanks again

check KMJ performance for 7 qt oil pans. I got one for my 440 from there off ebay and it's a nice pan for the money ($94 and comes with the pickup tube). They have them in gold finish or raw in case you want to paint it.

As far as stock stamped rockers I know some guys that say they are trouble. Personally I ran them on a 440 with the MP .533 cam for 7 years without an issue. (Shifted at 6000, trapped at 6400). They were just one's I grabbed from my dad's stash that he has gathered thru the years, check to make sure they didn't wobble on the shaft and the cup that holds the pushrod isn't "buldge" looking. If it's a street car with low rpm and .525 lift I wouldn't be afraid to use them, but that's just me.

Mopar made the 6 quart low profile oil pan for the 1970/1971 Hemi and six pack 440 motors for both the B and E bodies, that pan works great on the street up
Summit sells them (part # SUM G-3511 scope) but don't use their 3/8 oil pickup tsk
I'm working on finding the proper Melling oil pick now for those pans, once I find out which one works the best, either barely touches or almost touches the bottom of the pan installed with the windage tray, I'll add the part number on here up
As far as rocker arms you get what you pay for, if your lucky work
When I first started racing B and RB Mopars we had to buy and use adjustable pushrods tsk down
Now the choices for rocker adjustable arms are unlimited on type, price and quality work
On the used factory stamp steel rocker arms I've never seen or held any that weren't loose on the shafts, never shruggy

With the money you've already spent, I wouldn't go cheap on the rockers. All roller rockers look nice on the web, but some have a better reputation than others.

Cab, I'd be interested in the oil pickup p/n for the 6 quart pan if you find it.

This engine will be used as a driver, wont be twisting it up too high of rpm I am certain. Trying to make a healthy street driver.

I am interested in the efi, what would y'all recommend along the efi line and a suitable roller rocker setup for a driver?

Cab, You advise against using the Summit pick-up with the 6 quart Summit pan. The Summit pan appears to be a copy of the Part #30761 Milodon pan. What do you think of using the Milodon pick-up (part #18660 for their #30761 pan) with the summit pan. Thanks!

I'm not impressed with the design of any pump pickup, and it probably doesn't matter if it's big enough.
However: look at commercial plumbing and hydraulics: you'll see some weird shapes, but never a rectangular box with sharp edges. It's just the cheapest possible shape to make on a bending brake, and then make it 2" bigger so it flows enough. If you have one that you think may be too small, easy enough to add a radius to the sides of the entrance.

The Holley Sniper setup would be the best choice for a simple EFI install. You should be able to get a EFI fuel tank and pump from Tanks Inc.

For street use I'd go with the Comp roller rockers since they are steel. Or hit the swap meets and see if you can find some Isky or Crane nodular iron rocker arms.

Intake depends on hood clearance. Use a Street Dominator if hood clearance is tight or a Performer RPM if you have room.

I use these on a .573 lift solid. Never had an issue. They’re steel and bronze bushed (no needle bearings) which eliminates a lot of what can go wrong. They’re made by ProComp. Good value for a mild build if you ask me.

They are good but see they require a ball/ball pushrod.

Check out the rockers that Hughes do, I run them an love them.

The most important part you are buying is your oil pan. If you have clearance get a deep rear sump. With baffles and a good windage tray. Keep that pick up in oil!!!!!!!!!
