I decided to add jack stand holder inside the set of shock plates that I built for my Coronet. This is the first design so I might tweak it a bit but I think the concept works. The shock plates aren't big enough to sit on the jack stand so I made the rail a little longer. I might add a short bend to the end to fully capture the jack stand. I have the car sitting on the stands now and I like the way it works. Having the jack stands right under the springs make the car more solid and gives me a little more room under the car. I suppose if I had a lift I wouldn't worry about this stuff but so far no lift in my shop.......

While I'm not a fan of that type of jack stand, that's a good idea.
What I really like is the tie-down provision, which eliminates wresting with axle straps.
How do you plan to attach the shock?

I'll weld on some double shear mounts for the shocks. I built these shock plates with a big flat surface for the shock mount. That way it is easy to bolt the shock to the mount and then clamp it to the plate for welding. By doing it that way you get the shock at the correct angle and height in the car.

nice idea andy. if it were me, just add a touch longer piece of material to capture the exposed end of the stand. i'm guessing you have the width a touch wider than necessary to accommodate the difference in stand castings ?

Great idea. Not every job is best done on a lift. Wiring, sheet metal, plumbing, a lot of suspension adjustments, etc. I still use jack stands everyday, even with a lift in the shop.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Yeah I can add a small lip at the front to keep the jack stand from sliding out. I did make the rails a little wider than the jack stans so things didn't have to line up perfectly. The rails can't be too wide or else it gets hard to put a wrench on the u bolt nuts.

I sell a "u weld it" race kit now but it doesn't have the jack stand rails. I think I'll add the jack stand rails as an option. If it works for me then it should work for some other folks.

You should make an optional bracket for cal tracks or the jackstand piece.

Excellent!
Make them.
Sell them.
Everybody wins.

Very nice work, Andy. I like the spring perches, too.
