I know it might have been discussed before, I'm very curious about the 451...

What are your combos/parts and results you had ?

My first was a Muscle Motors short block, 440 crank with mains and counterweights turned down to fit the 400 engine block. Reconditioned 440 rods with ARP bolts, and Custom Ross pistons that were dished for 11:1 compression with the heads I was using. Heads were the new for the time (around 1991?) Brodix B1 B/S heads from Koffels place with theit Stage 1 porting. (65cc chambers.)
As mentioned the compression was 11:1 and the cam was an Ultradyne solid roller with 251/251@0.050" duration, 0.620" lift with 1.6:1 rocker arms. The lobes were pretty street friendly, not real aggressive like a race cam.
The intake is the Mopar M1 single plane and a Holley HP 1,000 cfm carb. 2" Hooker headers and 3" TTI exhaust system. The ignition is a Mallory Uni-lite dist that triggers a MSD 6AL. Fuel pump is the Mallory 250 GPH and 500 filter plumber with -8 AN hose, with by-pass regulator mounted very near the carb. I don't recall exactly what the chassis dyno numbers were? I'd have to find the dyno print-out? Had a copy on my old computer that crashed, but I recall it was a bit short of 500, I think around 485 to 490 Rear Wheel HP.

I have one in my shop, 400 block with a stock stroke 440 crank and blueprinted LY rods with ARP rod bolts, custom made forged Ross pistons, pump gas motor that made 489 HP with a bad block that cracked the #1 cylinder on the dyno before cracking that cylinder runaway
I replaced that block with a lot better one and had it sonic tested before the machine work was done on it, the new thicker block should be worth 10 to 20 HP more work
The customer originally furnished the block and heads and some other parts, he had assured me that his block had been sonic tested and was good shruggy
It has a set of mildly ported 906 heads with new Manley 2.14 intake and 1.81 exhaust valves, Comp Cams custom ground flat tappet cam and lifters, 1.6 ratio Crane ductile iron rocker arms, Manton pushrods, new BG 850 CFM Street Demon carb., balanced and blue printed with all machine work done by Pettis Performance back in the early 2000.
My customer ended up going through a divorce, closed up his business and ended up disappearing over ten years ago whiney
It is complete from the new 6 quart Hemi/ 440 6 pack oil pan to the air cleaner up I ran it last week on a engine test stand to make sure it was good to go, it is up
So it is probably time now to finally let it go shruggy
Anyone interested in it please PM me on here for more details and so on up

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

1st one I ever did was back in the late 80s, 440 crank turned down to 400 mains, used stock bore fud(ford )460 Arias pistons 4.36 bore ,comp ht 1.74) flat tops with one valve relief , bushed pins stock B-block 6.36 rods. Stage 3 Max heads and welded up Offey tunnel ram. and Hughes solid cam. stuffed it in a 74 D100 SWB...made me some money on the streets of philly.

I ran this exact combo in the early 90's. Awesome motor. 500+ runs and 20,000 miles before tear down and it still looked almost like new. I still have the reassembled short block in the garage as a backup. Ran low 11's at 4200+ with it. I wonder if we built the same motor based of the article by Tony DeFeo?
